Funeral services celebrating the life of a very special lady, Florence H. Anderson, age 86, of
Holdingford will be Sunday August 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Chapel in Holdingford. Pastor Tom Clark will officiate and burial will take place in the Gethemane Cemetery in Upsala following the service.  Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Saturday August 8, 2010 at the Miller-Carlin Brenny Funeral Home in Holdingford.  Florence died Wednesday afternoon at the Emmanuel Lutheran Nursing Home in Litchfield where she had been a resident since June 28th.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Brenny Funeral Home of Holdingford.

Florence was born June 1, 1924 to Paul and Helen (Kardash) Peka in Bowlus MN.  She married
Donald Anderson on October 26, 1940 in Little Falls.  She and Donald were married for 61 years
and they farmed northwest of Holdingford until Donald died on January 14, 2002.  She was
legally blind since 1994 as a result of macular degeneration, and her sight continued to
deteriorate over the years.  After Donald died, Florence continued to live on the farm until
December 2002.  In February of 2003, she became a resident of Mother of Mercy Nursing Home
in Albany, and resided there for over seven years.  She made many friends among the nurses and
staff, mainly because of her sense of humor.  She could never bring herself to calling it “home,”
instead referred to it as her “hotel.”  She received excellent care there as well as at Emmanuel.

Florence is survived by her three loving children, Donna (Rich) Baker, Kirkwood, MO; Phyllis
(Bruce) Anderson, Litchfield; Harley (Carol) Anderson, Buffalo; three grandchildren, Allen
(Sherri) Kroska, Onamia; Janet (Steve) Martin, St. Cloud; and Pam Kroska, St. Cloud.  She is
also survived by seven great grand daughters and one great grandson, and one great-great
granddaughter, as well as many other wonderful relatives and friends.

Florence was the last survivor of twelve siblings.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and
her brothers and sisters, Albert, Mary, Gertie, Clarence, Mollie, Bob, Ray, Dorothy, Joyce, Leo,
and Donald.
