Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Delmer Skroch, age 76 of Holdingford will be at 11 AM Saturday January 4, 2014 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel.  Father John Paul Knopik will officiate and burial will take place at a later date.  Delmer died at the V.A. Medical Center in St. Cloud on Sunday night.  There will be a visitation from 4:00-8:00 PM Friday January 3, 2014 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel with a parish prayer service at 5:00 PM.  There will be visitation again from 10:00 AM until the time of the service Saturday morning at the church.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of Holdingford.

Delmer was born on June 18, 1937 to Edmund and Catherine (Kostreba) Skroch in St. Wendel, Minnesota.  He attended a country school near St. Wendel and then enlisted in the Army on March 27, 1958.  He married Shirley Litchy on February 6, 1961 in Duelm, MN.  After marriage Delmer and Shirley lived in the St. Joseph area where they took over the family diary farm.  They later moved to their retirement farm near Upsala in 1997.  Delmer was an outdoorsman; he enjoyed cutting wood, fishing, gardening, picking mushrooms and tending to the many animals that lived on the Skroch farm.  He also enjoyed picking on the grand kids. Delmer often indulged in a Mt. Dew and snickers bar.  He was a member of St. Columbkille Church in St. Wendel.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Karen (Fritz) Jacobs, Holdingford; Randy (Mary), Swanville; Jamie (Jenny), St. Joseph and  Julie (Duane) Struzyk, Holdingford; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Clem Skroch, Rice; Emily Rudnicki, Avon; Melvin (Phyllis) Skroch, Rice and Sharon (Dennis) Yurczyk, St. Joseph.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edmund and Catherine, his infant daughter Lisa, and brothers Clarence and Claude Skroch.
